LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Final-round play at the BMW Championship is scheduled to resume at 2:30 p.m. ET Sunday after a 3 1/2-hour rain delay.
The late start ensures that the third event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs will have a Monday finish. The final group of Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker is now scheduled to tee off at 5:10 p.m. ET. Sunset here is 8:01 p.m. ET.
Officials suspended play at 11 a.m. ET Sunday after heavy rain pounded Conway Farms. There was no lightning in the area, but puddles began to form in the fairways and on the greens.
Initially, the forecast for the rest of the day wasn’t better, but Tour officials will send groups out after more than a three-hour delay. Temperatures will remain in the low 60s with at least a 75 percent chance of rain throughout the afternoon.
Monday’s forecast looks more promising: high of 64 degrees, mostly sunny, and winds gusting to 20 mph.
